The PlayStation multiplayer masterpiece Helldivers 2 will be updated to support the new PS5 Pro console. With the PS5 Pro release date closely approaching, the higher-spec—and exorbitantly priced—games console will be able to play an enhanced version of Arrowhead’s breakout multiplayer sequel.

With the PS5 Pro enhanced games list growing after the console’s lackluster reveal, fans have been hoping for support from the console’s most unique multiplayer game. As it turns out Helldivers 2 PS5 Pro support is confirmed, and Arrowhead is working on it right now.

Arrowhead confirms Helldivers 2 PS5 Pro support

In an update from Arrowhead community manager Twinbeard, the game developer is working on support for Sony’s new console. However, the company isn’t revealing what resolution or framerate the game will target on the more powerful hardware.

“There will be differences between the current PS5 and the Pro versions,” Twinbeard told fans on the Helldivers Discord server. “But what those are is yet to be confirmed.”

At the time of writing, Helldivers 2 runs at 1080p in its 60fps performance mode and 1728p in its 30fps quality mode. While Arrowhead has yet to confirm the exact plans for the new Pro Enhanced modes, there is a hope that the game will be able to hit 60fps in its higher resolution mode via the use of PSSR.

In the same day, Arrowhead also confirmed that an Xbox port of the popular game will require Xbox and PlayStation to agree on a release. Will that ever happen?

More support on the way

Following the release of the Chemical Agents Warbond update, which resulted in a massive boost of players, more content is in the works for Arrowhead’s multiplayer game. While still unconfirmed, countless leaks have revealed the arrival of an extensive Clans system that’s far more in depth than anyone expected.

With patches on the way to address nerfed weapons and broken stratagems, Arrowhead is still working hard on future content for the game. Considering the years of support for its top-down PS4 and Vita predecessor, the huge success of Helldivers 2 will undoubtedly lead to tonnes of post-launch content for Super Earth’s dedicated soldiers.
