Forget FM25, fans have already created the perfect update for management addicts

Admit it. You were pretty disapointed when Sports Interactive moved Football Manager 25’s release to March 2025. After spending nearly a year with FM24, we were all excited about a new game, only to suddenly have our hopes dashed a little over a month before it was set to launch. To make matters worse, despite SI saying that they’ve tried to make a data update available for FM24, this is now not possible.

However, there is hope… a data update of sorts already exists. The FM October Update (which is, at the time of writing in V3 form), has been created by the team over at Football Manager Inside, TheFMEditor & DanFMDatabases after hearing news FM25 was delayed.

“After the delay of Football Manager 25 we have decided to bring back our update to Steam. Our update has always been the most downloaded and most popular update on Steam that we feel we are obligated to bring it back to Steam now that everybody has to wait at least 5 months for the new game to arrive,” the Steam Workshop page reads.

  • Promotion & Relegation for every playable league in FM24
  • Transfers up to October 20th
  • Loans up to October 20th
  • Updated CA and PA based on 23/24 season
  • Fully compatible England lvl 10 Database (NEW)
  • Added missing players to the database
  • Added missing staff, including the full staff of Ajax and more

It’s worth noting that if you’re using other add-ons, this data update may create issues. The team warns: “This download has NOT been tested alongside other add-ons. Using other add-ons might corrupt your game. This has NOTHING to do with our update, this is due to conflicting add-ons.”

This isn’t the first update FMInside has rolled out. A quick look at their Steam page shows around 18 data updates, with new ones added often. Some of the comments on the website do suggest this update isn’t flawless , as expected, but the team is continuing to improve it as they go along. That sounds like a winning formula to me.
