Nexon has a lot of exciting plans for the future of The First Descendant. Nearly everything about Season 2 has been revealed recently, but the developer has been sharing their ambitions beyond the upcoming second chapter. One thing both fans and the developers desire is crossovers, and, while collaborations with other IPs for The First Descendant are officially “under review,” there are challenges in getting crossovers to materialize.
We only have to wait until December 5th for the Season 2 release date to arrive. Before then, make sure to redeem Nexon’s newest code in honor of their 30th anniversary so you can get some massive rewards. As for what is coming out in S2, there will be two new playable characters, the Ultimate is Sharen, and there will be some big improvements to skins, with the developer currently reviewing Hailey’s assets after claims they’re the “wrong size”.
Away from just Season 2, Nexon is also planning to add “jiggle physics” sometime in the future, and they are also working on getting crossovers into The First Descendant.
Nexon hopes to bring a “fantastic collaboration” to The First Descendant
On The First Descendant’s Discord, the game’s producer has been answering queries from the community. One question that has been asked quite a few times is whether collaborations and crossovers are planned for TFD.
In response to one of the queries about crossovers with other IPs, TFD_PD_Lee said, “There are a few under review”. In another message, the producer said, “I’m very interested in collaboration skins, too”.
Skins would be the best way for crossovers to be handled in The First Descendant, and the obvious collaborations we would love to see are Stellar Blade and Nier. Stellar Blade especially feels thematically appropriate with all its amazing outfits for Eve.
Unfortunately, while collaborations are being considered, they “require a lengthy process, from contracts to implementation”. Crossovers are the “kind of work that requires a significant amount of time,” so it’s “likely to take a long time” for even just one to become reality.
Still, although it won’t happen immediately, the good news is that “there are a few under review,” which means there are happenings behind-the-scenes for TFD players to anticipate.
