A new mod for Silent Hill 2 has turned the somewhat traditionally attractive sad boy James Sunderland into a horrific homunculus straight out of an eldritch nightmare. If you thought quad-legged monsters and Pyramid Head were scary, wait until you catch a look at this trauma-filled horror show.
A horrific little Silent Hill 2 accident
Created by modder/mad scientist WindowBreakerCharlie, the Flesh Blob Sunderland mod accidentally turns Silent Hill 2’s mopey protagonist into a sickness not even Mary could love. Uploaded to Nexus, the mod was created by accident after its creator made a mistake when modding the game.
“I made an error while modding the game and created this freak,” WindowBreakerCharlie explains.
Flesh Blob Sunderland does exactly what it says on the tin. James Sunderland is no longer your average White Anglo-Saxon male skipping through his fog-fueled guilt in abandoned small town America, but a haunting blob that belongs trapped inside The Labyrinth.

Sunderland’s face now rests on the side of his weirdly bulbous head, bit his nose still juts out of the front as if its a weapon. The character’s stretched skin turns small pores into haunting craters, and the whole visage belongs in the H.R. Giger Museum. This thing could inspire a Scorn 2, we’re not kidding.
Nevertheless, fans of Silent Hill 2 have graciously adopted Flesh Blob Sunderland into their hearts with the mod quickly getting over 5,000 downloads in a number of hours. Some have explained that the new James “looks like an ugly bulletsponge” with others revealing the new mod freaks them out more than any monsters in the game.
“I wasted 5 minutes of my life staring at this,” one fan said. “What is that protruding thing? It’s certainly not his nose.”
No matter what kind of Cronenberg nightmare Flesh Blob Sunderland actually is, he’s already earned a place in the hearts of Silent Hill fans. Gracing the best-selling game in the series, this haunting honumculus is a treasure everyone should share. Cosplay when?
