One of the best additions to Dead By Daylight this year has been 2v8 mode. However, while the limited-time mode has been a lot of fun, there has been issues such as killer queue times. Players have suggested numerous ways to resolve the issue, and a recent concept has involved transforming DBD 2v8 into 3v5. It’s a wild proposition on paper, and a developer has responded.
There is a lot happening in the world of Dead By Daylight. DBD Mobile devs have seemingly responded to concerns the game is shutting down, meanwhile, leaks have possibly revealed a Japanese killer for March that is not The Grudge. In addition, Year 10 will see the arrival of the FNAF Chapter, but, before the end of the year, leaks have revealed skins set to come out in December to celebrate Christmas.
While December should be huge for the DBD community, the unfortunate news is that 2v8 mode will not carry over. BeHaviour will bring back the LTM in the future through more iterations, but there are no plans to evolve into 3v5.
Dead By Daylight dev responds to 3v5 proposition
On the BeHaviour Interactive forums, a Dead By Daylight player suggested the idea of adding 3v5 mode to the game.
The idea would involve killers “drastically nerfed in order to fit/be balanced into the 3v5 setting,” and, in addition to three killers and five survivors, it would also have six generators as the main goal before opening the gates.
From the player’s perspective, the 3v5 proposal is to “drastically reduce the q-times for killers”. The OP argues that “if 2 killers is fun, 3 killers will be even more fun + only 5 survivors = drastic reduce in q-times to find a match as a killer”.
Whether you think the idea of 3v5 is good or terrible, it’s not happening, at least not anytime soon. In response to the proposal, BeHaviour Interactive developer and community manager, Mandy, explained why the mode wouldn’t work and why it wouldn’t fix the issue with killer queue times.
The community manager posted, “Without even mentioning the balancing issues that would need to happen in that mode – killers would have to be heavily nerfed for it to be remotely balanced, which is not fun to play. It actually will just move the queue problem to the other side, it wouldn’t solve the problem”.
We only have until November 26th to enjoy the current iteration of 2v8 mode. It will be back eventually, and leaks have revealed the next batch of killers and maps set to join. In addition, we possibly know of two huge licensed killers that will never join thanks to licensing issues.
