One of the most popular games in the world finally has a native version on the PlayStation 5. Minecraft finally has a native version for the PS5. If you’re confused because you’ve already been playing it on your console, that’s the PS4 version of the game simply running on the PS5. The native version is built and tuned to specifically take advantage of the current-gen console’s capabilities.
The PS5 edition of the game is available now on the PlayStation store (thanks Eurogamer), and is a free update if you already owned the PS4 version of Minecraft. The main difference is that it will leverage the PS5’s current-gen technology to deliver gameplay at 60fps with 4K visuals.
What’s The Difference Between The PS4 And PS5 Versions Of Minecraft?
As mentioned above, the more advanced tech of the PS5 will make the game look and run better, but besides that, two new features have been added to Minecraft’s Bedrock edition today.
A Hardcore mode, which gives players only one life. This isn’t exactly a permadeath mode, as it will let you revisit your world only as a ghost. Secondly, you’ll get the ability to bundle items together in order to save up space, or organize them how you see fit.
As for what’s new in Minecraft, the Minecraft movie isn’t even out yet, and everyone’s hating on it. Right from the reveal trailer to another clip showing how crafting works in the movie, fans have been calling it cringe.
It seems things behind the scenes were just as bad. According to streamer Valkyrae, who has a cameo in the movie, was quite shocked at how Jason Momoa was treating the crew. “I would have to say, Jason Momoa. I just saw him mistreat some of the crew, and it was pretty disappointing,” she said during a stream. “It was a very emotional scene so maybe he was still in character, I don’t know. But I was kind of surprised by how he treated some of the crew.
“He was just really mad at them that they weren’t doing something right, like setting up like the shot,” she continues. “He was just angry, really mad and yelling. So I was like, man, this is not a good work environment. I would not be happy working under these conditions.”
