Throughout its lifespan, Call of Duty: Warzone has featured a wealth of battlegrounds for players to master. Ranging from the bustling metropolis of Verdansk to the tropical island of Caldera, players have dropped into a variety of battlegrounds in a bid to become the last one standing.

As part of the Season 1 update for the battle royale, the popular Rebirth Island map made its anticipated return, much to the delight of fans wanting their fix of fast-paced action. After finally addressing the game’s poor audio, Raven Software has pulled the map just hours after its return.

Why has Rebirth Island disappeared?

On November 18, the CODUpdates X account announced the map would disappear from all Resurgence playlists while the developers attempt to determine what game-breaking issues have appeared. The post reads: “We’ve removed Rebirth Island from the playlist while we investigate map-specific-issues.” Exact details on what was impacting the map weren’t disclosed.

Rebirth Island’s disappearance from Warzone just hours after it returned is another issue affected players since the Black Ops 6 integration took place. With the map gone and with no return date in sight, Urzikstan and Area 99 remain the only maps in the current playlist rotation.

The sudden removal of Rebirth Island hasn’t gone down well with players who opt to stick with Resurgence matches thanks to their faster pace of play and the ability to respawn after being eliminated. Several fans have described the Black Ops 6 era of the battle royale as the worst launch of Warzone in its history.

What next for Warzone?

Black Ops 6’s arrival into Warzone has been far from smooth sailing. Sub-standard sounds combined with broken battlegrounds and the arrival of new movement mechanics have fallen flat, undoing all the progress made during the Modern Warfare 3 cycle.

A return date for Rebirth Island hasn’t appeared yet but Raven Software says it will share the latest intel when it has more information on the issues affecting the battle royale’s most popular map. If you’re after some Resurgence action, Area 99 is the only place to go for the time being.
